Taylor Swift captured the perfect royal selfie ahead of her Wembley performance, posing with the Prince of Wales and his two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The snapshot, shared by Kensington Palace on X (formerly Twitter), showed the royal trio with Swift backstage before her concert on Friday night.

“Thank you, Taylor Swift, for a great evening!” read the caption accompanying the photo.

For Prince William, celebrating his 42nd birthday by taking his two eldest children to the much-anticipated concert was a way to earn maximum dad points. This eventful birthday week saw the prince return from Germany, where he attended England’s Euro 2024 match against Denmark the previous evening.

Swift later posted another selfie featuring her boyfriend Travis Kelce, alongside Prince William, 10-year-old Prince George, and 9-year-old Princess Charlotte. “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start,” she wrote.

Videos circulating online appeared to show Prince William dancing to Swift’s hit song “Shake It Off,” adding to the night’s excitement. Catherine, Princess of Wales, stayed home with their youngest child, six-year-old Prince Louis. However, Prince Louis did make an appearance in an official photograph released earlier on Friday to mark his father’s birthday.

Swift and Prince William share a history dating back over a decade. In 2013, they performed “Livin’ On A Prayer” with Jon Bon Jovi at a charity event at Kensington Palace. Swift, currently on her Eras Tour, has been performing across the UK with shows in Edinburgh, Liverpool, and Cardiff, delighting fans with hits from albums like “1989,” “Red,” and “Midnights.”

Nearly 90,000 fans filled Wembley Stadium on Friday, with some queuing from early morning to catch the first of Swift’s eight shows at the venue, split between this week and August.

The star-studded audience included Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness, and model Cara Delevingne. Swift’s parents, Andrea and Scott, were also in attendance.

Swift, who spent part of her early career living in London, called it “the most exhilarating city in the world,” capturing the sentiment of the electrifying evening.
